LALA Hires an Executive Director

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – The Latina Alliance for Literacy Advancement is pleased to announce the hire of its first Executive Director. In a meeting of the executive board this morning, LALA hired Alisa Valdés Gandy, LALA’s founder, its Executive Director by unanimous vote.

“I am honored and humbled to accept this position,” said Valdés Gandy. “I look forward to working together with this amazing board to make positive and lasting changes in the literacy landscape in our beautiful state of New Mexico.”

Valdés Gandy is the Grant Administrator / Business Development Coordinator for Albuquerque Engineering and Architecture firm Molzen-Corbin, where she answers to Del Archuleta, incoming president of the Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce; as well as a bestselling novelist and former journalist. She holds a master of science from Columbia University.
